DEFINITIONS - It is common to be unsure or confused about the terms used in the financial industry. We have included several definitions we hope clarify your understanding before you invest. Click on a letter below which is the same as the first letter of the term you wish to define:

  S & P – Standard & Poor's - the stock exchange index in United States of America containing the stocks of 500 Large-Cap Corporations  
     
  Safe Harbor 401(k) Plan – a plan exempt from non-discrimination testing of elective and/or matching contributions in exchange for providing certain minimum levels of matching or non-elective contributions  
     
  Section 401(k) Plan – a plan in which employees may elect to make pre-tax contributions to an employer-sponsored plan in lieu of receiving taxable income  
     
  Section 403(b) Plan – an elective contribution arrangement available to employees of government schools and to employees of entities that are tax exempt under Code Section 501(c)(3). A 403(b) plan may also provide for employer contributions. Also available to tribal governments, but not to governmental agencies generally  
     
  Section 404(c) Plan – any defined contribution plan meeting regulatory requirements in which a participant exercises control over the assets in his/her account such that a participant will not be considered a fiduciary by reason of that control, and no other fiduciary shall be held liable for losses resulting from that control  
     
  Section 457 Plan – an elective contribution arrangement available to states, political subdivisions of a state, or any agency or instrumentality of a state  
     
  Security – general term meaning stocks, bonds, and other investment instruments  
     
  Self-Directed Option – an investment option permitting participants to invest their plan assets in an unlimited number of investment options through either a full brokerage account or a mutual fund window  
     
  Share – any of the equal parts into which the capital stock of a corporation or company is divided  
     
  Stock – a security representing an ownership interest in a corporation
